Kirkwood Academy of Performing Arts, aims to provide the highest quality dance instruction to children and young adults in a diverse, nurturing environment. We believe that the arts enrich the life of the student and family by building self esteem, lasting friendships and life skills. Our students are encouraged to become technically proficient and at the same time build self esteem, cooperation and leadership skills.

Dance Studio Manager

Registration prerequisites:

Ballet 
Inter-Foundation (both exam and non-exam) students must take 2 Kirkwood ballet classes plus available Kirkwood pointe/pre-pointe class for level.  KAPP students will not attend IF choreography class.
Intermediate  (both exam and non-exam) students must take 2 Kirkwood ballet classes plus available Kirkwood pointe class/classes for level.  Exam students must also take 1 Kirkwood ballet tech class  (tech class waived for those attending full-time KAPP).
Advanced Foundation exam students must take 2 Kirkwood ballet classes, 2 Kirkwood pointe classes and 1 Kirkwood ballet tech class  (tech class waived for those attending full-time KAPP).
Advanced Foundation non-exam students must take 2 Kirkwood ballet classes, 1 Kirkwood pointe class for level and 1 optional Kirkwood ballet tech class (tech class waived for those attending full-time KAPP).
Advanced 1 exam and non-exam students must take 2 Kirkwood ballet/pointe classes and 1 Kirkwood ballet tech class. Students must enrol in all 3 classes in order to participate in Adv 1 choreography (tech class waived for those attending full-time KAPP).
Advanced 2 exam and non-exam students must take 2 Kirkwood ballet/pointe classes and 1 Kirkwood ballet tech class.  Students must enrol in all 3 classes in order to participate in senior choreography (tech class waived for those attending full-time KAPP).

Modern/Contemporary
Students must be enrolled in a minimum of one Kirkwood ballet class in order to be eligible for registration in a modern class.

Students must be enrolled in a Kirkwood modern class in order to be eligible for registration in a contemporary class.

Jazz/Hiphop/Jazz Fusion*
Students must be enrolled in a minimum of one Kirkwood ballet class in order to be eligible for registration in jazz, hiphop tech or jazz fusion class.

Please note that classes taken outside of Kirkwood do not count towards eligibility requirements.

Registered or Returning Students

The 2019-2020 dance season for Kirkwood will start:

* the week of September 9 for all classes

*Notes
Ballet is the core technique for all other genres of dance.  For this reason, students in grades P-5 must be enrolled in both ballet exam and ballet choreography classes in order to be qualify for any additional classes (i.e. jazz, modern, contemporary, tap).
